NESCAFÉ® Coffee Plan

We believe every cup of NESCAFÉ® can make a difference. That's why sustainability is at the heart of everything we do.
Some of our many sustainability commitments include sourcing coffee responsibly, helping farmers adopt regenerative agricultural practices and improving farmer livelihoods. We're also working to ensure that as much of our NESCAFÉ® coffee packaging as possible is reusable or designed for recycling by the end of 2025.

Coffee Plan 2030 Progress Report

Rejuvenating Coffee Plants Through Regenerative Agriculture

Regenerative agriculture is an approach to farming that aims to improve soil health and fertility as well as protect water resources and biodiversity. To aid responsibly sourced coffee efforts, NESCAFÉ® is rejuvenating coffee plants; either through pruning existing coffee trees or replacing them with disease and climate-change resistant varieties. These new coffee plantlets will help rejuvenate coffee plots and increase yields through higher productivity and quality.

Working with Communities

The farmers we work with are key on our sustainability journey and we work with them to adopt regenerative agriculture practices and to improve their livelihoods, including targeted training to facilitate their transition to regenerative practices and the supply of high-yielding coffee plantlets. Through close collaboration, we assess and refine initiatives based on the specific countries where we source our coffee.

But beyond training, at NESCAFÉ® we are piloting financial support programmes. These initiatives aim to boost farmers’ income as they transition to regenerative agriculture. The support includes conditional cash incentives for adopting sustainable practices, weather insurance for income protection, and improved access to credit lines.

More and more people are demanding more than just great tasting coffee, and by choosing to buy and recycle NESCAFÉ® you could help us save packaging from landfill.

Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Regenerative agriculture also contributes to drawing down carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by capturing and storing more carbon in the soil. NESCAFÉ® aims to contribute to halving greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and reach zero net greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. It will work with farmers, suppliers and partners to help protect agricultural lands, enhance biodiversity and help prevent deforestation. In line with Nestlé coffee sustainability ideals, NESCAFÉ® intends to help farmers plant more than 20 million trees at or near their coffee farms.
